RÉENCHANTER LES PIERRES
Réenchanter les pierres is a soundwalk in the St-Michel neighborhood of the city of Lille, France. Inspired by the animals that decorate the houses of St-Michel, the soundwalk consists of 10 compositions accompanied live by a storyteller. The crowd follows a fully solar powered sound system mounted on a bike, and travels through the neighborhood listening to the stories of this part of the city.
My work in this project was to compose musical pieces, as well as narrative pieces of music; each stop has its own story and along the way animals appearing on the housefronts also has its own designed sound. In an effort to not run after the bike setup, i also programmed a Max/MSP patch and controlled it via OSC with my phone, this permitted a lot of expressivity in the uses of the sounds, like beung able to react instantly to something the storyteller said.
At this date the project is on the way to becoming a geolocalised app, allowing everyone to experience the soundwalk as they please.
